Putting a Smile on your Face

I've never drawn the Joker before. It was interesting to get it to look right. I was trying to give him my own spin while also trying to pay homage to his design in the Killing Joke and in Knightfall. I also felt like doing this after taking a look at a tpb of All-star Batman and Robin. I felt a bit irked by the fact that in every panel the joker appears in he has this grumpy sneer or a frown that looks like someone got his order wrong at the drive thru. It didn't feel right to me. The most iconic thing about the Joker isn't his bleached skin and hair or his brilliantly colored suit but his smile, that huge, toothy grin that symbolizes his madness. If you notice that smile gets wider when he looks at you, you to run like hell. Not having that in that comic is just as bad as how batman is portrayed in that comic. It's almost not even the Joker. It doesn't seem like he gets any pleasure out of what he does. Anyways, enjoy the pic.
